Eligibility Criteria for NTA UGC NET June 2025

Age Limit

  • For JRF: Applicants must not be over 30 years as of 01.06.2025.
    Age relaxation of up to 5 years is applicable for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, Third Gender, and women candidates.
  • For Assistant Professor and Ph.D. Admission: No upper age limit.

Educational Qualification

  • Category-wise Requirement:
    • General/EWS candidates: Minimum 55% marks in Master’s or equivalent (without rounding off).
    • OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender candidates: Minimum 50% marks in Master’s.
  • Final Year or Awaiting Results: Candidates currently pursuing or awaiting results of their Master’s degree are also eligible to apply.
  • 4-Year Bachelor’s Degree Holders:
    • Must have secured a minimum of 75% marks or equivalent grade.
    • Eligible for JRF and Ph.D. admission, but not for Assistant Professor posts.
  • Final Semester of 4-Year Degree: Students in their final semester/year may apply provisionally. To be fully eligible, they must meet Ph.D. requirements under the UGC Ph.D. Regulations, 2022 within:
    • 2 years (for JRF qualified candidates)
    • 1 year (for Ph.D. admission only)
  • Candidates with a 4-year UG degree can choose any subject listed in the UGC NET notification for Ph.D. purposes, regardless of their UG discipline.
